Circular Exchange Event: Reflect, Learn, and Build towards Advancing Circular Procurement in Nigeria

The Circular Exchange 2024 Event, themed “Reflect, Learn, and Build,” is set to gather thought leaders, experts, and stakeholders to address the critical issue of circular procurement in Nigeria. The Circular Exchange is an annual event focused on building opportunities for circular business and investment in Lagos. The term “exchange” is used to imagine a future where information about circular business opportunities is easily accessible and trade between circular businesses is well established. This year’s event is designed to help us reflect, learn and build from a year of working with a wide range of partners under the auspices of the Circular Business Platform to build the market for Circular Economy businesses in Nigeria.

Circular procurement, a cornerstone of sustainable practices, focuses on purchasing goods and services that are designed for durability, repairability, and recyclability. By adopting circular procurement principles, organisations can significantly reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimise their environmental footprint while also building business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

The Circular Exchange Event will take place on the 1st of February, 2024 at Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos and will feature a series of engaging discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to delve into focus points such as:

  • Identifying challenges and opportunities specific to developing the market for circular businesses in Nigeria.
  • Exploring tools and learning experiences developed by the Circular Business Platform and its partners.
  • Showcasing local initiatives driving circular economy practices.

“The time is ripe for Nigeria to embrace circular procurement as a powerful tool for sustainable development,” says Dr. Natalie Beinsch, Executive Director of the Circular Economy Innovation Partnership (CEIP). “This event serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, driving us towards a more resilient and environmentally conscious future.”

The Circular Exchange Event welcomes participants from government bodies, corporate organisations, businesses, non-governmental organisations, academia, and individuals interested in driving positive change. By joining forces, attendees will contribute to shaping the circular procurement landscape in Nigeria.
